U.S. Trials

The prestigious U.S. Trials Program selects Team USA, a group of elite level athletes, to represent the United States in the World Baton Twirling Championships. The U.S. Trials are held in late March or early April during even-numbered years at varying locations throughout the United States.

Athletes competing in the U.S. Trials have successfully passed through all required levels of Compulsories and Movement Technique to qualify for this competition. Individual athletes compete in Compulsories and Freestyle in the Junior Division and Short Program and Freestyle in the Senior Division.

Gold, silver and bronze medalists, and an alternate are selected in the following divisions: Junior Women, Senior Women, Junior Men and Senior Men. One Junior Pair, one Senior Pair, and one Team are also selected.

                                                                 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:

The World Baton Twirling Federation (WBTF) has postponed the 2020 35th World Championships from this August to August 5-8, 2021, in Riccione, Italy.

The 2020 U.S. Trials have been moved to March 2021 and are tentatively scheduled at Lawrenceburg High School in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Exact dates are to be determined based on school availability.
The 2021 35th World Championships will continue to use the 2020 age calculation rule (age as of Dec. 31, 2020). The 2020 Trials entries and Order of Appearance will remain in effect. USTA will not accept any new entries for the Trials competition.
